 Located at the top of the stunning Pohangina Valley, Spring Grove Farm offers you a laid-back, hands-on experience with a variety of animal breeds. Whether you cuddle a baby rabbit or watch your children feed Teddy, our gentle giant Highland Steer, we offer great opportunities for adults and children alike. Learn about some rare and unusual creatures, enjoy safe and authentic farm surroundings, and relax with a hot cuppa and enjoy the most beautiful valley in the area.
Run by owners Jude Mitchell and Pete Corkery, both members of the Rare Breeds Conservation Society of New Zealand, our Spring Grove menagerie is the result of more than 12 years of collecting, caring and careful animal management. We cherish our animals, and our full-time mission is to increase the population of rare, domesticated animal breeds, whilst giving you a unique educational and emotional encounter with some of the strangest and friendliest animals around.
Summers are beautiful in Spring Grove, but our winters are cold and wet, and our animals like to curl up in their homes, where it's warm and dry. We don't like to disturb their winter rest, so to keep our animals happy, we open from 1 September to 31 May.
We are well signposted from the Raumai turnoff outside Ashhurst and cater for family, school and group visits. We are open to the public on weekends and public and school holidays, (except Christmas Day). Groups are also welcome at other times, but booking is essential.
 Although every effort has been made to ensure that the information on this website is accurate, the animals on display at Spring Grove may be different to those listed here. Although the owners of Spring Grove make every effort to make the farm safe, children remain the responsibility of their parents at all times. Prices may be subject to change without notice.
HOW TO FIND US
From Palmerston North or Feilding:

Go to Ashhurst, the main street is Cambridge Ave

Travel North on Cambridge for 11km then turn right to Pohangina Valley East road, Raumai turnoff (you will see the sign for Spring Grove Farm Park on the corner)

Travel 14km on this road, you will be keepng the river on your left

Highland Home Christian Camp will be on your right after the 14km

Turn left (another sign at this point) travel 3km over one way bridge, past old camping grounds on your right, Camp Rangi on your left, over the Pohangina river bridge, go straight ahead up the rise, around a sharp bend, up the hill, follow your nose and we are on the left
