RARE BREEDS

Chinchillas Just like Memphis and Mr Frosty, chinchillas also come from South America, where the Chincha people used our fur for clothing. Boy, we are glad that we live at Spring Grove! There are four of us here - my name is Sparkles, and I have three wives: Pearl, Maude and Daphne. We usually get along well, but we squabble over who will get the first dustbath each day... come and watch us!
	Deer I am a rather special deer, because I have a magical job to do. I am a White Red-Danish Deer. (That might sound confusing, but it really just means that I am extra-rare!) My name is Storm, and I need a lot of rest during the year to prepare for my busy night on Christmas Eve when I help Santa. My friends are Spanish Hinds called Bam Bam and Bee Bee. The girls and I like to lie in the shade of the orchard, but we are in a bit of trouble because we have ring-barked the fruit trees!
	Dogs My name is Ivan, the Black Russian terrier. Although I am named after Ivan the Terrible, I am a good, kind and strong dog. I am the Managing Director of Spring Grove. Sometimes, if there are troublemakers around, I also act as the bouncer!
	Goats Hello my name is Smokey and with me is Silo my girlfriend. We try to have a baby every spring for you to cuddle.
	Highland Steer My name is I am Edward, and I am a real Scottish gentleman. My friends call me Teddy. I am loved by everyone at the farm. Kids love to feed me bread and feel my rough tongue. Michelle Phiffoot, my girlfriend, is a Fresian Angus cross, but she's pretty special because she's got an extra leg! We both love to eat bread, so come and feed us!
	Llama My name is Sunny. I am one of the older gentlemen of the farm. Most kids reckon I am one of the nicest animals here, and I love to cuddle Jude and Pete. Llamas also come from South America, where people used us to help them to carry heavy packages over the mountains. Some rude llamas spit at each other, but don't worry, I would never do that! I do have a little bit of a bad habit though, I love to try to escape down the drive...everyone has to chase me and it's a great game
	Miniature Donkeys We are very rare and special! In fact, we're so special, Jude and Pete breed us. My name is Spartacus. I am the Jack (boy) donkey. I am so busy and active that Pete says that I have muscles on my muscles! I don't have many friends though because I pick fights all the time. I love people though, and will snuggle up under your arm, especially if you have bread! (I once even had a cup of tea in Pete and Jude's lounge!) Rosebud and Moppet are my jennies (girl donkeys). They spend their days staying out of my way.
	Pigs Hello! My name is Moonbeam. I am a Captain Cooker pig. I think I am pretty clever,because I have learned to sit on comand for bread. I love bread! My friends the Kunekune pigs, Thomas and Gertie, love to spend the day with me in the shade under the pine trees. Hershey, the European boar is also a friend of mine. He thinks he's extra special because his family came on the ship with Captain Cook! They've been in New Zealand since the 1770s. Jude loves Hershey because he never stop talking! She should try living with him! He even talks to himself!
